Douglas County may add shopping center
Published on: 12/10/07 A new shopping center has been proposed along Fairburn Road in Douglas County, less than two miles west of the Chattahoochee River.
The project would provide additional retail space for residents moving into new housing developments west of College Park and near Douglasville. It is slated to open in 2011, according to plans filed with the state Department of Community Affairs.
The entire development would be about half the size of Phipps Plaza in Buckhead. The shopping center would be about 354,000 square feet. An additional 70,000 square feet of commercial space could be built on outparcels totaling about eight acres, according to the plans.
The project is slated to open in 2011. The site is near the intersection of Ga. 92 and Ga. 166. The developer is Barrett Rand Corp., according to the plans.
