I found crime rates for 2000 on fedstats.gov. This is just for Douglas County.  2007 Statistics won't be available until October.

2000 Crime Statistics
Total: 4,150
Murder: 0
Rape: 17
Robbery: 49
Aggravated Assault: 217
Burglary: 539
Larceny-theft 2,961
Motor Vehicle Thefts: 358

2006 Crime Statistics
Total: 5,398 (up 1,248)
Murder: 7 (+7 from 2006--up 100% from 2000)
Rape: 20 (+3)
Robbery: 109 (+60--up over 50% from 2000)
Assault: 232 (+15)
Burglary: 957 (+418)
Larceny: 3,555 (+594)
Motor Vehicle Theft: 518 (+160)
